1. Purpose and definitions
These terms govern the use of the Karya Platform, which connects people who wish to rent a vehicle (“Customers”) with vehicle rental agencies established in Tunisia (“Agencies”). An Agency acts on the Platform through its members (“Members”), including an owner.
A “Booking” means a rental request made by a Customer to an Agency through the Platform, or a rental recorded at the front desk by the Agency for a customer who came to the agency in person.
2. Acceptance and changes
You accept these terms by ticking the box provided when creating your account, when an Agency applies, when an account is activated, or when accepting an invitation to join an Agency. Karya keeps the accepted version and the date of acceptance. The version in force is dated October 3, 2026.
Karya may change these terms. A new version is published on this page with its date; significant changes will be brought to your attention and you may be asked to accept them again.
3. Accounts
A Customer account is created with an email address and a password of at least eight characters, then confirmed through the link received by email. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for the actions carried out from your account.
An Agency account results from an application reviewed by Karya. Once the application is approved, the owner receives an activation link and can then invite Members and assign them a role that limits what they can do. Each Member keeps a personal account.
The information you provide must be accurate and kept up to date. An account is personal: it may not be lent or transferred.
4. Role of Karya
Karya is a technical intermediary. Karya does not rent out vehicles, does not own any, and is not a party to the rental contract: that contract binds only the Customer and the Agency. The Agency sets its prices and its conditions, and is responsible for the condition of its fleet and the performance of the rental.
Karya provides the tools for connecting users, booking, generating the contract and the condition report, paying the deposit online, and sending notifications, and strives to keep them available without guaranteeing uninterrupted service.
5. Booking and extension
A Booking starts with a request from the Customer. The Agency approves or declines it. A request left unanswered expires 48 hours after it was created. Once the request is approved, the Customer has 48 hours — and no later than the end of the pickup day — to confirm; after that deadline, the request is automatically canceled.
Depending on the chosen payment method, confirmation is given either by selecting “I confirm” (payment at the agency) or by paying a deposit online via Konnect, the amount of which is set by the Agency and fixed at approval. The balance is paid to the Agency.
During the rental, the Customer may request an extension. The new dates are held while the Agency responds; the extension only takes effect once approved by the Agency.
An Agency may also record a counter rental for a customer who came to the agency in person. That rental follows the same contract and condition report rules; any deposit is paid directly to the Agency.
6. Eligibility conditions and documents
To rent through Karya, each driver must be at least 21 years old and have held a driver’s license for at least two years. An Agency may require more (age, years licensed, minimum rental duration); its conditions are shown before the request and apply to the primary driver as well as to the additional driver.
A rental request requires the following documents, as images of no more than 5 MB each: national ID card (front and back), driver’s license (front and back) and a photo of your face. You may choose to keep them in your profile for your next bookings.
7. Cancellation and no-show
The Customer may cancel without penalty as long as the request has not been confirmed and, once confirmed, until the day before the pickup date. The Agency is informed.
The Agency may cancel a request before it is confirmed by the Customer. Refunding a deposit already paid is the Agency’s responsibility.
If the Customer does not show up at the start of a confirmed rental, the Agency may report a no-show. Upon the third no-show, the account is suspended for 30 days: no new request can be made during that period. Karya may lift a suspension or reset the counter.
8. Contract and condition report
On confirmation, Karya generates a bilingual French-Arabic rental contract in PDF format, based on the information of the Agency, the Customer, and the Booking. Any correction produces a new version, the previous one remaining archived; an approved extension gives rise to an amendment.
The Agency carries out a condition report at pickup and at return: at least eight photos covering the seven required angles, fuel level, and mileage. The Customer receives the return condition report by email. These elements serve as evidence of the vehicle’s condition between the Customer and the Agency.
9. Reviews
After a completed rental, the Customer may post a review — an overall rating, a comment and, if they wish, sub-ratings per criterion. Only one review per Booking; it is published as “First name L.” and can neither be edited nor deleted afterward. The Agency may reply publicly, with a single reply that it can replace or withdraw.
A review must remain factual and courteous. Karya may remove a review that is manifestly unlawful or unrelated to the rental.
10. Verified Renter Passport
A Customer whose documents have been approved by an Agency and whose Booking has been confirmed obtains the “Verified Renter Passport” status, valid for twelve months from approval. Replacing a stored document causes this status to be lost; Karya may withdraw it in case of fraud. Agencies see the status, never the Agency that granted it.
11. Public page, content, and suspension
Each Agency has a public page (description, cover, opening hours, fleet, reviews, pickup locations). The Agency is solely responsible for the content it publishes. The page is automatically withdrawn if the Agency is no longer active, if its subscription is suspended, or if no vehicle is visible; Karya may also withdraw it, stating the reason to the Agency.
The following are prohibited: false information, impersonation, publishing other people’s documents or data, circumventing the Platform to evade the booking rules, and any unauthorized automated use. Karya may suspend or close an account that breaches these rules, after notifying you, except in an emergency.
12. Liability, governing law, and contact
Karya is not liable for the performance of the rental (vehicle condition, delay, damage, deductible, insurance claim), which is a matter for the Agency and the Customer under their contract. Karya remains responsible for the operation of the Platform and for the protection of the data it processes, under the conditions of the privacy policy.
These terms are governed by Tunisian law, in particular Law No. 2000-83 of August 9, 2000, on electronic exchanges and commerce. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first; failing that, the competent Tunisian courts will have jurisdiction. Contact: [email protected].
